So we decided to check the President's New! Improved! Website du jour, Recovery.com where we found the usual promises of great features.... to come.

Welcome to Recovery.gov

Recovery.gov is a website that lets you, the taxpayer, figure out where the money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is going. There are going to be a few different ways to search for information. The money is being distributed by Federal agencies, and soon you'll be able to see where it's going -- to which states, to which congressional districts, even to which Federal contractors. As soon as we are able to, we'll display that information visually in maps, charts, and graphics.

We think there's still a lot of work to be done back at the White House ranch, where we had to search the White House blog, (we kid you not!) for the text of last Saturday's Weekly Address.  If you booklinked the President's Executive Order page, you'll find that it's the usual work in progress. But we digress.

QB has long been convinced that the sole purpose behind Obama's outreach -- from signing folks up for that 3 am call, to inviting them to text it in from the convention floor -- is email and cell number collection.  We've lost track of how many websites Obama HQ has cranked out. Remember Fight the Smears? We know that you do!  

So, we circle back to Recovery, and discover a link to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which we click.  You can already guess where they take us, before handing us off to the GPO, can't you? Take a look anyway though, because you've got to admire how inconspicuous they made the link to the actual legislation, while conveying the impression that your name and email are needed to proceed.  They still don't care where you're from, either.

Do we think His Eminence Grise was pissed when Uncle Joe fumbled the URL?  Yes, we do.  It's not like it's hard to remember, or anything.  

UPDATE:  Ha!  Looks like Wonkette, who pointed out that Uncle Joe was sending folks to a much more useful site called Recovery.com, may have fans at 1600.  Recovery.com is no more; you'll hardly even notice the redirect.
